Today is Lauren's 2nd day of Kindergarten and actually her first day with her whole class. Last week, they just went a few at a time for their first day! I can't believe that the summer is over and it is school time again! I love the Fall...but I just want a little more summer!!:/

My dear friend, Heidi, had her twins on Saturday 7/11/09. She had pre-eclampsia and had a seizure at home and one on the way to the hospital before having an emergency c-section! So thankful to God that Heidi and both babies are doing well!

Last month I had posted about my brother, Davey having prostate cancer surgery. He got the report back today and all 15 lymph nodes were negative. The cancer was contained to the prostate!! THANK GOD!

I think everyone has been enjoying the beautiful weather we had over last weekend!! I had to work but took advantage of it when I got out of work!! It is supposed to rain today but hasn't started yet! Almost summertime!!

We went for a drive down to Atwood Lake yesterday after work/school for Scott and the kids.

Scott and his family used to live down in that area when he was around 9 years of age. It is amazing all the things he remembered and the stories he shared with us!!:) LOL!
This picture is taken from a golf course that was practically in their backyard. It is still there and I took a picture of the back part of the land where their house used to be..

This is where their house sat. And I guess they lived in houses on both sides of the road, right across the street from each other. Both houses are gone now..

My grandmother, Dora Best (my mom's mother), died this morning around 6:30 a.m., surrounded by her loving family. My mom left yesterday morning to be by her side, spent the night with her, and the family was called in around 5:00 a.m. Please pray for comfort and safety in traveling as the family makes plans to bury a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Although dementia had taken her from us long ago, those glimmers of recognition and remembrance were hoped for and welcomed. So glad of the hope of heaven and joyful welcome awaiting us with a mind that has been restored.

We were so priveleged to get to go back to Hobe Sound this year!! We had a great time and the weather was beautiful!! We were sightseeing in Orlando for a night and we also went to Lion County Safari in West Palm Beach!!! We saw a lot of old friends and had a lot of late nights visiting!! Scott's cousins, Jason and Missy Fisher were there too!! Our kids had a lot of fun playing with their kids, as always!! The ocean was beautiful. A new year is here!! The kids are (reluctantly) back in school. It has been a busy time at work for me. Scott has been from PA to Circleville, OH working!! This week he is in Indiana at Union Bible College with our pastor, Bro Bolois, taking a class. (One semester smashed into 1 week). He needs lots of prayer!!LOL He is enjoying it, but like he says, he hasn't been in school since 1994!!

Nine years ago today, little Miss Kaitlyn came in to our lives!!:) She is 9 going on 15!! LOL!! We were in Nelsonville today. Scott was filling in for The Fisher's while they were holding a revival in West Virginia!! So, she got to spend her birthday at Grandma Donna's house!! I think she was pretty happy!!

And I believe that's all I will blog for today!! I am tired and have a class tomorrow!! I need to get to bed very soon!

Scott's dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer this past week. Scott went with his dad and mom today to Cincinnati to the doctor. He had a bone scan which showed no cancer in his bones. He does have aggressive prostate cancer so the doctor says there is a 70% chance that it has spread outside of his prostate. The doctor is recommending radiation and radiation seeds. He is not recommending surgery but will leave the decision for Steve to make. Please keep them in your prayers as they make a decision on treatment.

Today I am 35 years old!! Wow!! It may seem old..but really..I am still young!!LOL Ha! Ha!!
I had a busy day!! I took the kids to school and then my mom took me to eat at Bob Evans. I also had two doctor's appointments!! Our Homecoming Revival started tonight and then we got treated to McDonald's afterward by a family from church!
The greatest thing that happened today was I got rid of my last drain from surgery!! I had five after surgery and got rid of four of them after one week!! The last one I had for four weeks and two days!! I am so glad it is gone!! If you have ever had a drain after surgery, you know what I am talking about! I have to say, I was becoming quite creative with trying to conceal it in my clothes!!:)
I went and seen my co-workers today as well, since I was in the hospital for one of my doctor's visits!! I have been off work now for about seven weeks due to my gallbladder surgery and then my reconstruction surgery! It was the hospital's birthday today, too!! 100 years old!! (See, I am young!!):) They were having cake all over the hospital to celebrate! But, for their birthday, they have Joint Commission visiting for the week!!!:-/ Not a very good present I would say!! I am sooo glad I am not there!! For those of you who don't know, Joint Commission or JACHO conducts periodic unannounced surveys of Medical Centers. They give accreditation and certification that is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. It can be quite stressful at the hospital while this is all going on!! People looking over your shoulder and asking a million questions! It was nice to see a few of my co-workers though and they were quite relaxed when I got there because they had already been through a round with the JACHO people and felt as if it had went well!! Which is a good thing!!:)
So, I made it through the day and I am quite tired so..................I think I better get to bed!!

We had our first church-community parking lot "festival" today!! It was a beautiful day and everything turned out well for the most part, considering it is a rough neighborhood! A lot of people from the community came out and we got to hand out christian tracts and literature about the church. There was flatbed singing, inflatables for the kids to play on, corn hole games, sidewalk chalk, balloons, face painting and a clown!! Hotdogs with sauce, chips, cookies, brownies and pop were served as well! Gabe Norris came from Zanesville and gave a talk on salvation to the crowd!!

Now, church in the morning!! I am sure there will be a few tired ones there!!:)

I am reminded of the words to a song..."In the shadow of our steeples, souls are dying. Does anyone care, can you hear them crying?"

Well, this will be the first full week of school this week!! Everything seems to be running smoothly so far!! Kaitlyn and Jon have had two piano lessons and that seems to be going well too!! Lauren is going to Pre-School/Daycare about every day....especially since I am trying to get back to normal myself....slowly but surely!! Walmart is one place that is a little overbearing for me right now!! It makes me real tired!! I am sticking to the smaller stores, if I have to pick something up!! As for housework...that is tiring too, but I am trying to do little bits!! I have to say, Scott and the kids have been helping me out a lot!! I am thankful for that!! My house could look a lot worse right now!!LOL
I still have one drain left of the five I came home with. Hopefully that will come out tomorrow when I see my surgeon again!!

Just wanted to make a quick blog to let you all know that my reoconstruction surgery is complete!! I am recuperating at my sister, Diana's, house this weekend! Most of my family is in WV for labor day, including Scott. Scott had to sing today at Dave Maley's church. He took Jon with him and Lauren left last Wednesday with my sister, Lisa! Kaitlyn is here with me! I am a little sore but otherwise doing great!! I will keep you updated!

Well, I had my gallbladder surgery a week ago Thursday! Everything went well!

I went today to Akron City Hospital to have pre-testing for my reconstruction surgery scheduled for the 25 th of this month! I am on leave from work right now due to my gallbladder surgery! I am enjoying a small break from work until my BIG surgery coming up!

We spent last weekend at Scott's cousin, Nikki's, wedding!! It was so beautiful and we had a good time!

There are only a short couple of weeks until school will be back in!! I can hardly believe how the summer has flown by!

Jenny Kuhn has been up for a few weeks to stay with us!! It's always nice to have her around!! She helps out a lot and keeps the kids entertained!!LOL

Family Reunion

We spent this past weekend in New York at my mom's family reunion!! We had a great time!! I got to see my grandma, whom I hadn't seen in a couple of years!! She had congestive heart failure while we were there and was unable to make it to the reunion, so we went and saw her at the nursing home where she lives. It is kind of sad....she doesn't know who we are, but we do remember her!!:) A lot of good memories to think back on!! We sang some hymns for her and she even joined in on the last few words of "The Old Rugged Cross"...."I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross, and exchange it someday for a crown. :)

We stayed in a little house on Pleasant Lake with my sisters (Lisa) family. The lake was beautiful and the kids got to go out in a paddle boat!! It was nice just to get away from all the craziness of life!!

With that all said...I was in the Emergency Room last Tuesday night with a gallbladder attack!! Wow!! Hit me all at once!! Since this has all transpired..I have to have gallbladder surgery before I can have my reconstruction surgery!! So August 4th is off for my reconstruction surgery! The good news is, I can have the reconstruction surgery 2 weeks after the gallbladder surgery!! So, please keep me in your prayers as I cross this bridge!! Life is so crazy at times!! But one thing I know... the Lord has a reason for all that we have to go through!!

Kaitlyn had her 4th piano recital on Thursday, June 5. She played "Down in my heart". She had also participated in a National Piano Guild last month where she had to play 5 songs by memory for a judge. She received her certificate the night of the recital.

I got a call again today from Akron Plastic Surgeons and they had contacted the wrong place regarding my surgery...so they have to re-submit to my insurance company..to the right department or whatever to get the approval to do the surgery!!:O It's amazing...I even got a form in the mail regarding the claim and saying how much insurance would pay and how much I would have to pay for the surgery!! Very confusing to me!!! So..surgery may not be August 4th depending on what is available when they get the go-ahead!! I will keep you updated!!!

I was working yesterday. Didn't get to go to church with my kids. But my faithful husband, Scott, took them to church as always!!

I have the most wonderful mother in the world!! She was sick yesterday and didn't get to church!!:( I think she is starting to feel better today!!

My grandma (my mom's mother) lives in New York. She has Alzheimer's and really doesn't know who a lot of us are. We have fond memories of her, though.

Scott has a great mom, too!! She puts herself out to help other people!! She truly has a mother's heart.

My nephew Noah and his wife Kassandra had a new baby boy early this morning...1:25am. Weighing in at 8lbs and 9 ounces. He is so cute!!! A ton of hair!!...and so soft! I went down and saw him a couple times today during work and I got to hold him! Here is a picture I took!

When I was in WV, I got to see my friend Jody!! I don't get to see her much..and when I do, not for very long. She is one of my old childhood friends that I spent a lot of time with in the summers when she would come to Canton to see her grandparents and I would stay at her house when I went to WV.

Made it home safely tonight from WV. A dear man from our church passed away last week and his funeral was in WV. It was a wonderful funeral service and God was there. He will be greatly missed. Not only by his family but by the church family as well. Another saint of God from our church passed away yesterday as well. It seems so shocking that they both left us in the same week..but I know that God knows what he is doing. It makes me realize that we all need to do our part to be faithful as Hersh and Randy were.

My sister, Lori, and I went to see Sophia (my cousins baby) this evening. She is now off the bipap and on oxygen. She is getting big...now weighing in a little over 3 lbs. A tiny little miracle..

We got to IHC in Dayton, OH on Wednesday afternoon and left to come home after the Thursday evening service. We got home a little after midnight!! We had a good time. It has been such a beautiful week, with the weather and all!! I have to say that I enjoyed it!! Work is still a little grueling! Very, very busy!! I am not sure where all the sick ones are coming from!! Very stressful at times since census has been so high at the hospital for a few months. I think you can kind of tell from all the stressed out people there!!:/ So, the beautiful weather was like a breath of fresh air!! The kids have enjoyed the sunshine!!
My uncle Poby and Aunt Harriet and her sister Margaret have been at my mom's house. We have done some visiting with them. They all came up to see their new baby granddaughter, Sophia Grace, who is now a month old. She is doing well, considering her early entry into the world!!
My sister, Lisa, was diagnosed with MS this past week. She is having some physical problems. Just praying that God will help her get through this frustrating and scary time right now.
We are planning on going to IHC this coming week, so looking forward to that!!
I hear it is supposed to snow tomorrow!! I sure hope not!!

We went to see UBC choir tonight at Beach City Bible Methodist Church. It was a good service. Some kids from the church went with us!! There were nine of us smashed into our Astro Van!! We had a good time!! It can be nerve wracking for me with some of this group at times, but Scott kind of likes their company..they make him laugh!!:)

My cousin, Sherri, had her baby unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13. She was around 29 weeks pregnant. Her placenta abrupted and they had to do an emergency c-section!! Thank God the Lord brought her through it all and she has a precious little baby girl, Sophia Grace!! She was 2lbs 9oz. 13 inches long. So far Baby Sophia is doing well!!

We will have to keep her in our prayers!!:)

"Sea Star" of the week!!

Jonathon was "Sea Star" of the week this week in his class. He got to bring in his favorite toys and pictures of himself. I wrote a letter telling about him and and Lauren and I got to eat lunch with him and spend time with him at indoor recess on Thursday!! He had a fun week!! Lauren and I had a good time visiting him at school, too!! Lauren especially liked sitting at his desk and coloring!! The class was also celebrating Dr Seuss this week!!!

The BIG snowstorm!!

I think the snowstorm is finally over, but we got a lot of snow!! It all started early afternoon on Friday for us. I went to work on Friday night...experienced the lightning and thunder along with the snowstorm!! I don't think I have ever seen anything like it!! Got home safely Saturday morning..thanks to driving Scott's truck, which is 4-wheel drive..It would have been a nightmare in the van. 77 was covered with snow!! I haven't went anywhere since coming home Saturday morning from work!! Church was cancelled, both services...so I attended Hobe Sound Bible Church via the web...thanks to my mom for reminding me!!:) I have added some pictures of the snow!! Hopefully this is our last snowstorm for the winter..We went from 69 degrees on Monday, to a huge snowstorm on Friday and Saturday!!! Crazy! Crazy!!

Is anyone as ready for Spring as I am?? It was a beautiful day and I got to enjoy it a little since I am working night shift tonight!! The only problem is that I may be tired tonight!! We will see!! It has been very hectic at work, with the flu and RSV season!!! I can't wait until it slows down some!! The 12 hour days have felt more like 24 hours!! I am ready for a few night shifts..maybe they won't be so bad!!

My kids enjoyed the weather after school today, too!! Here is a picture of them with one of the neighbors, Ellen!!

Back home from Florida!!

We left for Florida on Friday the 8th of February. We arrived on Saturday evening about 7pm.We had a great time! We were at Seabreeze Camp. Saw some people we hadn't seen for a while and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We left on Friday the 15th about 3pm and got back home on Sunday evening. We had a nice relaxing time.

Wow!! Where has the time gone!! I have kind of forgotten about my blog here!! Such a busy time has passed us!! Christmas!! And now we are in to the new year already...full speed ahead!! It seems as if 2007 was probably the worst year of our lives with all that happened with us, but, it could have been worse!!! A whole lot worse!! I can say that the Lord was there every step of the way!!! I am so glad that I can trust the Lord with all of my cares and all of my problems. He has helped us so much!! I trust him with my life!!

Christmas is on the way!

I can't believe that Christmas is almost here again!! WOW! But now that Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas season is in full swing! We went down to Scott's parents for Thanksgiving, and then yesterday I took all three kids with me to the Longaberger Homestead!! I did have some help with my kids so it wasn't such a crazy day!! They all had fun and I guess that's all that really matters! I was supposed to work tonight but I got an excused absence so far tonight because of low census!! Hopefully I will get the rest of the night off!! Scott has been under the weather. It seems like he gets everything coming and going!! He had pneumonitis(inflammation of his lung) last week (actually I think that he probably had it a couple weeks before he actually found out because he has been wheezing) and he is still on antibiotics from that! Jonathon has a fever today!! I guess it is the season for sickness too!

It's been a long time since I have written anything!! But, not much is happening around here. Same old..work, work and more work!! Scott is working in Pennsylvania at the moment and the kids are tearing up the house, playing!! :) They are not fighting at the moment, though, so I guess we can clean up later!! Christmas is just around the corner and I have started to buy a few things! Where has this year gone too?

Just wondered if Fall is really here yet...due to the 90 degree weather!! We went to Old Fashioned Days yesterday at UBC. We had a good time but it was very hot!! I am kind of watching the trees to change colors...that is slow coming. Someone did say today, though, that the colors of the trees are not going to be as colorful because of the warmer weather!! That makes me a little sad. I like to see the pretty colors. Anyway, no school tomorrow for my kids...It is Columbus Day!! Here is a picture of the kids with their cousins, Canaan and Candi.

It has been a great week!! My birthday was Monday, the 24th...I am now 34 years old!!:)

We just finished out homecoming revival at our church. Bro Sproles was the speaker and the Glick family sang!! We had good services and the Lord helped us!!

I worked all night last night and then went to Homecoming without going to bed. I had a few moments here and there of sleep this afternoon and back to church tonight!! I have to say that I am a little tired and ready for some sleep!

Scott's cousins Larry and Laura were up this weekend as well. The kids had a great time playing...there wasn't a lot of play for me between work and getting ready for homecoming but we had a good time together!

I went to my surgeon today for a check-up. He is happy with the way my skin reacted to radiation!! I found out while I was there that I had lost 13lbs since the last time I was there, which would have been around May or June.....and I was 8lbs lighter than when I had first went to see him before surgery and all my treatments. So, I was happy about all that, since I have been trying to diet for the last couple months!! Scott is doing fine with his leg!! Pretty much back to normal....driving me crazy!! LOL!!

Scott went to the Dr today and....................NO MORE WOUND VAC!! Praise the Lord!! Just a dressing!! He is doing a lot better!! Actually, as I am writing, he is down at the church working. :) They are having a work day everyday this week at the church!! So, that is keeping him a little busy at the moment!! He did go to Pennsylvania to work on Monday! I am not sure how much work he did, though!! HA!! Ha!! Thanks for all your prayers and continue to pray for him. He still has a wound that needs to heal!!

Brook's Reunion

We got to go to Scott's family reunion this past weekend, on his mom's side of the family!! We all had a good time. Saw some family from North Carolina and Indiana!! Took a lot of pictures!! :) Mark, Scott's younger brother came in with his girlfriend, Jessica!! We stayed up way too late every night and had a lot of laughs!!

I also got to go down to Athens and see Sarah's (my neice) new dorm room. I wanted to take pictures but forgot my camera. Her dorm is beautiful!! Brand new!! The dorm she stayed in last year looked like a prison!!

Scott is doing good!! He is reading a lot of books in his spare time! School is going good for Kaitlyn and Jonathon as well.

Went to the Doctor today!!

Scott went to the surgeon's office today!! The doctor was very pleased!! He said that the wound is 70% healed. Actually, I took a peek and it is really looking bettter and better!! He will see the surgeon again on September 17th and probably will not have to have the wound vac after that! So, only a couple more weeks with the wound vac!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Update on Scott!

Some of you have been asking about Scott!! He was home from the hospital a week yesterday!! He is doing pretty good!! He has had some trouble with dizziness today!! (I am sure some of you already know that he is dizzy :) !) He actually woke up before 5 am this morning and when he sat up in bed, it kind of overtook him!! I decided to call off work because Kaitlyn would have been here alone with him and I actually wasn't sure what was going on! My whole family is in West Virginia for the weekend! The home nurse advised him to drink water, because he could be slightly dehydrated. He has been drinking Diet Mountain Dew. I went to the store tonight to get him some bottled water. There are many reasons why a person can be dizzy, though!! So, who knows. His mom is supposed to come up tomorrow. She was concerned about me going to work and him being here alone with Kaitlyn. He is still moving around a lot here at home. He has to see his Surgeon on Tuesday, but the visiting nurse says the measurements to his wound are getting smaller and you can actually see that it is getting better! Here is a picture of him outside today, with his purse (the wound vac) that is always with him....his book and the phone. Notice his new haircut!!

First Day of School!

School started today!! Kaitlyn and Jon had a hard time getting to sleep last night and then they were up real early this morning!! Everything seemed to go pretty well! Jon is a little tired....hard to get back to the grind when you have been playing all summer!

Lauren went to West Virginia tonight with my sister, Lisa. I have to work the weekend, so she went down to be at the cabin with my family for Labor Day. Jonathon is supposed to go down with my sister Diana on Friday evening. Kaitlyn says that she is staying home!! She is not too much of a traveler...I guess we will see when the time comes. If she doesn't go, she can keep Scott company while I am at work.

We went tonight to "Meet the teacher" at school. Jonathon is going to have the same teacher that Kaitlyn had last year, Miss Pilsitz. Kaitlyn is going to have Mr. Johnson for her teacher. I think that they are getting excited to go. We took all of their school supplies, etc. tonight. That will save their poor arms come Wednesday (the first day of school). The school supply list seemed like it was a mile long!! We were at the school a good 2 hours. They had hotdogs, chips, cookies and drinks outside on the playground after they met their teacher. Lauren had a grand time. She was from one end of the playground to the other...she gave us heart failure a couple times just by running off and we weren't sure where in the world she was!! She sure has a mind of her own!!!!!!!!!

Scott came home yesterday at @ 5pm. It was an all day experience!Anyway, he is doing fine. A little restless. I may take him out for a little drive later on! Visiting nurse saw him yesterday at the hospital and they came to the house this morning as well. I have a few days off now before I have to go back to work. I worked the last two nights! Donna, Scott's mom is here now. She came back yesterday.

Coming Home, tomorrow (Friday!!)

Well, Scott was supposed to come home today, but the wound vac will not be delivered until tomorrow, so, the Dr doesn't want him to come home until the wound vac is here! He is anxious to get home but glad that the dressing doesn't have to be taken off again today and placed back on tomorrow. The Dr changed the dressing today and says that it still is looking great!! He will be on oral antibiotics for a week after he is home!!
Thanks for all your prayers and concern. His cousins Jason and Missy came up today to see him in the hospital!! They live in Indiana, so I thought that it was nice of them to come. Scott's mom will be coming back tomorrow to help. She has been good about coming up to be with Scott when I have to be at work. I work tonight and tomorrow night also!! Kaitlyn, Jon and Lauren are doing good!! They are shuffled from my mom's and sisters to daycare and back!! HA!! They are holding up good! Kaitlyn and Jon start school next week and they are excited about that!! They found out today who their teachers will be! I will keep you updated!!

As far as we know, Scott will be coming home tomorrow. He will be coming home with the wound vac and will probably have home health nurses coming in!! We will probably and hopefully know more later today!!!

Scott is doing good!!! His blood count is low. It was 8.3 yesterday(normal is around 12). But it is coming up, it was lower than that. He is going to get Iron today through his IV. He is on blood conservation, so they won't be giving him blood unless they really have to. The surgeon was in last evening and changed his dressing. He says that the wound looks "great"! He was very pleased!! No word on when he will be coming home.
Thanks so much for all of your prayers! Please continue to pray for him!!! I was reminded of the thought from the song by Steven Curtis Chapman..."His strength is perfect when our strength is gone"....that is so true!!
